About GAT
As a trainee member of the Association of Anaesthetists, you automatically become a member of the Group of Anaesthetists in Training (GAT). Membership of the Association is extremely good value thanks to tiered subscription rates. On joining, you receive the following membership package: Joining the Association of Anaesthetists.
GAT was founded in 1967 and its objectives are to promote training, the practice of anaesthesia and communication amongst trainees.
GAT has over 3500 members, all of whom have voting rights within the Association. All GAT activities are co-ordinated by the GAT Committee, the only body that exists to specifically represent the interests of anaesthetic trainees at a national level. The Committee currently consists of twelve elected and six co-opted members. The Chairman and Honorary Secretary of the GAT Committee have a seat on the AAGBI Council whilst the Vice-Chairman is co-opted onto RCoA Council. In all, GAT has representation on 39 committees and working parties.
To keep members up to date, reports of the latest meetings are posted on this website. Please visit the Committee Report section for details.
The GAT Committee welcomes input from all GAT members. If you would like to get in touch, please do so via this email: gat@aagbi.org Alternatively, the Committee have a regular page in Anaesthesia News dedicated to GAT issues and welcome articles from members.
